iDear greeting cards and paper goods are made to make you smile! 

They're witty, cute, quirky and fun and are inspired by Ali's love of word play, everyday conversations and the occasional dad joke.

 In this age of texts and emails we think the thoughtfulness of a handwritten note is extra special. We hope that our cards and paper goods make you laugh and inspire you to write to your friends and family.

Our Story

A stationery business was always on the cards for Ali Hughes, a paper and word lover whose puns are always intended. Unsure of what path to take after University it was amongst the greeting card stands at a bookstore that Ali had her lightbulb moment- she could make cards too! From that moment on ideas for greeting cards were scribbled on whatever she had handy- scraps of paper, receipts, notebook pages and serviettes from the cafe where she worked. Her ideas became iDear, a play on the wit of her cards and the start of a letter because Ali can't resist a pun.
5 years on and iDear has grown from those first scribbles to over 80 greeting cards and a range of paper goods, with ideas for new products constantly brewing.

All iDear products are dreamt up and designed by Ali. They are produced locally using high quality, sustainably forested card stock.

About Ali 

Boss Lady | Designer | Pun Lover 

Founder and creative Ali Hughes grew up in the Far North of New Zealand and now lives in West Auckland with her husband and their three children. She has a Bachelor of Communications, with a major in Advertising Creativity from AUT University. In her spare time Ali loves to head to the beach, discover new places, bake yummy treats and dabble in DIY projects around the home.
